NOTES
Paths of Grace Album Notes

“Paths of Grace” is the fourth album in my Paths Series of Peaceful Prayersongs Albums.
The first three albums are “Paths of Peace,” “Paths of Love,” and “Paths of Hope.”
The prayersongs in each album maintain the theme that each album focuses on.

The central theme of Paths of Grace is the grace found in salvation offered through the cross of Christ through His death and resurrection for all people.

The central theme of the Gospel is found in Jesus Christ’s own words:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

The Holy Spirit inspires each of my albums.
It is interesting to note what He uses to inspire me.
My prayersong, “Oh Come To Jesus,” was written while we were on vacation at the Beach.
Whenever I see homeless people I am so sad. Jesus is our everlasting Home, our Hope, our eternal Treasure.
We are never homeless, hopeless, or lost when we come to Jesus. We may not have a physical home. We may not possess physical, emotional, or mental health. We may not have affluence, influence, or popularity.
Our world may be falling apart all around us.
But if we have Jesus, we have Someone who holds all things together by His powerful word ~ even you, me and the tiny sphere we live in.
When we have Jesus, we have everything. His grace will get us through every challenge.
“(Christ) existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.” Colossians 3:17 (NLT)

My prayersong, “Oh Lord, Rescue Me,” was inspired by many of the Psalms I read where David was fleeing for his life from King Saul who wanted to kill him.
“Rescue Me” was mostly inspired by Psalm 18. When I am suffering from pain from a severe migraine, I pray as David did for the Lord to rescue and deliver me also! And just as God always delivered David, He delivers me, for He is faithful to listen to the prayers of all His children.

When I prayed to understand the apostle Paul’s words in his epistles “the fellowship of Christ’s suffering,” out of my bible studies the Lord gave me the prayersong, “My Beloved, Trust Me.”
“...That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death...” Philippians 3:10 (KJV)

Our God is holy. He gave the children of Israel a Law on Mount Sinai. In the book of Habakkuk 3:3 when I read the following verse it intrigued me:
“God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise...
This verse refers to Deuteronomy 33:2:
“The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them.”

When the Lord appeared to the Hebrew children to give them the Law, His glory covered the Heavens and earth. “God appeared in His glory, so as He never did before or since,” Matthew Henry wrote in his commentary.
The Lord gave me a song almost immediately from the bible verses.

Why include a prayersong about the Law in an album on Grace?
Because Jesus Christ fulfilled God’s Holy Law that the Lord established on Mt. Sinai.

In order to understand the Gospel of grace, one must understand that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again in order to fulfill the very Law that God established in Israel.
The Gospel declares that people cannot be saved by fulfilling the Law. We are saved by trusting Jesus Christ to fulfill it for us.
“Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.” Romans 3:20 (NIV)

Many prayersongs on this album are about Christ’s redemption. The final song, “Someday I’ll Rise,” contains the whole Gospel in one prayersong.
I am forever grateful to my friend Karen Mahr for introducing me to the concept of going to sleep at night and rising in the morning as a metaphor for death and resurrection through one of her beautiful handmade Easter Cards that she sent me several years ago.

It is my prayer that the Lord will use the prayersongs on my Paths of Grace album to bless, comfort, and encourage all who listen to it, assuring them of God’s immeasurable love for them, and the timeless truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
