Peaceful Prayer Songs

Suzanne Davis Harden 

Suzanne is a creative visual artist, author, songwriter, and composer of prayer songs whose faith and spirituality are reflected in all of the music and art she creates.

Her prayer songs are reminiscent of ancient Gregorian chants echoing a heavenly, ethereal quality.

Suzanne's music is very peaceful and calming. It brings a wonderful atmosphere to worship, and meditation, or as a personal aid to bring comfort in times of stress.  

Suzanne's music is inspired by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mark

Suzanne is married to a wonderful man named Mark. Without his amazing support she wouldn't be able to accomplish her work. He always said that it was his goal to love her as Christ loves His church and he has always done this. He is a beautiful person whom she thanks the Lord for every day.

 

Suzanne's Story 

 

 

 

WOMP is my pet name for Wings of the Morning Publications, LLC, the greeting card company the Lord led me to start in 2009.

Writing and illustrating children's books had always been my dream. 

Running a publishing company, or having anything to do with managing my own business was far down on the list of things I felt qualified for or could ever be competent in.

 

But God does not ask that we be qualified to do something that He assigns us, just that we trust Him. 

When the Lord leads us to step out in faith and do something we don't feel competent in, it is very humbling. All of my professional training was in the visual arts and writing, not business.

 

"We live by what we believe will happen, not by what we can see." 2 Corinthians 5:7   

 

I earned my college degree in writing and illustrating for children and wrote and illustrated several books for my own two children when they were little. I worked as a freelance illustrator for over twenty years, illustrating for various publications. 

I have always loved to create greeting cards as well as books. Any time anyone was ill or needed encouraging, I would create a special greeting card for them.  

After many years of creating so many unique cards, a couple of friends encouraged me to start my own greeting card business. I wrestled a long time in prayer over this important step.

 

Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them,

and they follow me..." ~John 10:27 

 

 The Lord showed me He had a plan for my cards as well as my art and books.  

 

MUSIC 

 

^"I know the plans that I have for you.” This message is from the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future.¹² Then you will call my name. You will come to me and pray to me, and I will listen to you." ~ Jeremiah 29:11-12 (ERV)  

 

In 2009, the Lord Jesus did something amazing in my life. He began giving me music. This was something else I was not competent in at all, having quit piano lessons after about three years as a child.

It was as if the Lord was suddenly asking me to do everything I knew nothing about and to trust Him completely.

After having worked so hard to become a professional artist and become reasonably competent, the Lord was asking me to lay that on His altar and follow Him on this new path and be willing to be humble.  

"You are my friends if you do what I command." ~ John 15:15  

  

I prayed fervently, begging and pleading with the Lord about how He had the wrong lady, to please remember how I had always been a visual artist all my life, never a musician, nor even wanted to have anything to do with the performance arts.

Here again, the Lord exercised great patience and mercy upon me and showed me that I must just trust Him and believe that I was anything He said I was. He asked that I walk by faith and be obedient to all that He asked of me.

 

^“ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” ~Proverbs 3:5-6  

 

The Lord began to give me prayer songs. Soon I began to sing. My family was just as baffled as I was. My sister asked, "So where did you get that voice, how come you can sing now and never could when we were kids?"

I told her that I believed God had given me that voice because He wanted me to sing for Him. But as to why, I could give her no reason for the Lord had only asked me to trust Him and walk by faith. 

   

“Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.” ~John 13:7    

Soon the Lord began to give me beautiful piano solos and other types of music. I found I could play several musical instruments as the Holy Spirit led me. All of the music comes as a miracle gift from the Lord. I can do nothing apart from Christ.

 

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” ~John 15:4 

  

FAITH

 

"Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see." ~ Hebrews 11:1 (NLT) 

 

My faith in Christ informs everything I do.

  After much prayer, (for I was filled with many doubts and fears) I started WOMP, believing God was saying to me that I could not fail because He was with me and that He was love and "Love can never fail." ~1 Corinthians 13:8 

"...for God is love." ~ 1 John 4:8

 

All of the cards I had ever made before had been motivated by love and so now the creation of my company would be motivated by love too: the love of creating cards, prints, books, and music to encourage people. 

^"We should think about each other to see how we can encourage each other to show love and do good works... we need to keep on encouraging each other." ~ Hebrews 10:24-25 

Though I never dreamed I would ever in a million years be a musician, I now truly enjoy allowing the risen Lord Jesus Christ to create and play His beautiful songs through me by His Holy Spirit. All of my music is inspired by my faith in Christ and the Scriptures.

  

^"For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him." Philippians 2:13 

 

I never would have dreamed I would have started my own publishing company!

We've now published illustrated books, ebooks, as well as Fine Art Greeting and Encouraging Cards, two Encouraging Scripture Fine Art Calendars, Fine Art Prints, and this month we published our twenty fifth album of what I call the Lord's Miracle Music!  

That is something to glorify God for and shout about. For He has published through this broken vessel, in the past six years, since 2013, 368 songs now and 25 albums for His glory and honor all throughout this world! 

God's praises have been proclaimed throughout the Heaven and earth through these prayer songs and instrumentals that the Lord gave me to share.

~All of these amazing things were accomplished by the grace and power of God and for the edification of His people as well as for His glory. 

I find this is all quite miraculous when I consider that ten years ago I was just a visual artist and not a musician at all, nor did I know the first thing about running an online retail shop.

Not only that, all of these works were accomplished by the Lord through a broken vessel who bears a significant thorn with an auto immune illness that causes me to have chronic migraines every day. I look at the amazing things the Lord has done through this broken jar of clay that He created and I just praise Him and weep. We serve an amazing God.

"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us." 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KJV)

 PERSONAL

 

Mark is the most wonderful husband in the world. We have two beautiful adult children who are each married to loving spouses and two adorable baby granddaughters; and of course my sweet little Yorkie Miss Phee. 

I want to mention one thing. Mark and I are by no means wealthy. We are just two ordinary people that God spoke to and asked us to lay our lives completely down for His purposes.

We have invested everything of our own finances to do this work for the Lord. We have neither asked for nor received any financial or other support from any person or organization.

I do all of the creative work and Mark handles all of the things - like math related and several other challenging issues-that I can't do! He does everything that requires heavy lifting, and sells our cards at public fairs too, I might add! :)

He never complains that we have never made any profits since we started our work for the Lord.

Does this mean that God has failed us? Not at all! For according to our shop stats we have amazing amounts of traffic all year round.

The public may not buy our products but they seem to like to come and hang around our shop and get encouraged by the listings.

And if that is the only reason we exist, to encourage people with the Lord's music and the gifts He creates through me to share with this world so that our Shops are to be a kind of virtual store, where people come to be blessed and encouraged, then our investment is well worth it, because we are reaping eternal rewards that cannot be gauged by any human stat. God is recording our harvest though. His love never fails. And He certainly does keep every promise forever.

"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." ~Lamentations 3:22-23

I praise and thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the honor and privilege of being able to do this work for His glory, of laying our lives down for Him who loved us so much that He laid down His life for us so that we might live with Him forever, forgiven from all our sins, and given His own righteousness as a free gift of His grace.

 

 For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. 

 And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.

He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds." ~Titus 2:11-14 (NLT)

 

 I try through Christ’s strength to walk by faith and take one day at a time and trust that God will not fail me no matter what comes for "Love never fails." (1 Corinthians 13:8)

 

Having suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since 2006 which often produces debilitating migraines, I know what it is like to have to work within the boundaries of a less than perfectly healthy body. But God's word promises us that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13.) 

 

And the Lord Jesus told the Apostle Paul, "My grace is sufficient for thee, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9)  

The Lord has never failed me. He has always given me the strength and enabled me to accomplish every task He's inspired me to do. He is the Foundation of my life and the inspiration for everything I create. Jesus told His disciples, "Abide in Me for apart from Me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)

 

 ^"For ye are bought with a price: therefore *glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." ~ 1 Corinthians 6:20

 

*Glorify~ The Thayer Bible Dictionary defines the word Paul used for glorify as "to praise, extol, magnify, celebrate; to honor, to make renowned, to cause the dignity or worth of someone to be acknowledged."

 

 

Many of my instrumentals and prayer songs are inspired by the Bible, specifically the Psalms. These beautiful psalms have comforted the hearts of millions of people since they were written thousands of years ago. I find comfort and inspiration from them.

It is my fervent prayer that these beautiful prayer songs will bless, comfort, inspire, and encourage all who hear them till Jesus returns.

God never forgets the prayers we pray! "
